Copy a specific video URL
Use the video’s page or its Share link, rather than a creator profile, search result, or playlist address. A complete link usually identifies both a creator and a post.
Keep the original page open to check that the media result belongs to the intended post. Your signed-in browser session does not grant the resolver access to private or restricted content.
Save the available file in a desktop browser
The workflow is similar in current Chrome, Edge, Safari, and other modern browsers. It does not need a SaveMyTok browser extension, an installed downloader, or a public account.
- Open SaveMyTok’s Video Downloader in a separate tab.
- Paste the public TikTok URL into the input.
- Submit it and wait for the available sources.
- Read the source label, then select Download.
- Save from the browser’s media tab if needed and inspect the completed file.
Locate downloads on Windows and macOS
Check the browser’s downloads list first: it normally provides the file name and a way to reveal its location. Your selected browser folder may differ from the operating system’s default Downloads folder.
If you chose Save As, return to the folder you selected. Download history alone does not prove the file is still present; files can be moved or deleted afterward.
Why a source opens in a new tab
A remote media host can serve video inline. Browsers may ignore a cross-domain download hint and open the source instead of immediately saving it.
Use a browser or player Save control when available. If one returned format fails, try another. Avoid repeatedly opening many result links at once, which can make it harder to identify which file saved.
Inspect file type and playback
Keep the source’s actual file format. MP4 can be available, but the application does not guarantee one encoding, file size, or resolution for every post. A compatible player is needed to open the downloaded file.
If a file does not play, confirm that saving completed and that it contains the expected media rather than a browser error page. Try a fresh source link if the previous one has expired.
Use downloads responsibly
Saving a public video does not transfer the creator’s copyright or grant a music license. Obtain permission before republishing, editing, or using content commercially.
If TikTok offers a creator-enabled official Save video option, consider that route. For failures involving private, removed, or restricted posts, SaveMyTok cannot bypass the original platform’s controls.
Common questions
Does SaveMyTok install software on my PC?
No. The public downloader runs in your browser and does not require an extension or executable installer.
Does a video quality label guarantee sharpness?
No. The label describes reported source information. Compression, source recording quality, and aspect ratio also affect the picture.
